Sound Chronicle

Sound Journalism (2019-2023)
Bookmaking (2023)

A compilation of personal experiences with individuals who dedicated their lives to sound. The journey begins in the historical jazz and audio kissas (cafes) of Japan. From there it progresses to Terry Riley passing down Indian raga in Japan, sound artist Akio Suzuki’s 60 years beyond the mountain echo, and the half-century bond between 93 years old jazz pianist, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and her world’s craziest listener.

The book adopts a traditional Japanese binding method, retchoso from the Hei-an period. The charcoal washi cover is self-made from kozo plants in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture.
